The original cones can't be beat. At the end a 'one size fits all" cone was used. That's likely what GPA has, since Bill came in towards the end. IMHO a little higher resonance.
AHHHHHHH..... the smell and sight of "NOS" Altecs..... just received my new 604's packaged perfectly, appear to be in perfect condition other than one phram....sold from, WEST L.A. MUSIC, SANTA MONICA BLVD, W. LOS ANGELES, CA MADE OR SENT FROM 1515 SO.MANCHESTER AVE. ANAHEIM CA.... THANKS GENTLEMEN.... will do some simple tests against my 8g's and see if there is a big difference, once I find some NOS phrams...These cones feel different than GPA's doing a tap test, very crisp, and there is a cool gold color coming through the cloth surround. Thanks again!!!!!!

Your neighbors called. They like your music.
From what I have been able to gather the H's came with a much better crossover.. And I'm wondering what the real differences he is hearing between the drivers.. Using the same H crossover with a pair of the G's and then do the comparison.. Me thinks there will be very little if any.
OG, they certainly feel different, my 604 g's have GPA cones that have about 40 hours on them and look brand new so we shall see after some testing....

AB unfortunately I cant use the H crossovers yet because I think the wires aren't long enough to put through port and I don't want to cut a hole in the cabs, but I will be using the same Xover for my G's that I like a lot, sounds much better than the gpa xovers I have. Maybe they needed to be broken in? I think they might sound very similar or might just be a taste thing, my G's have the T plugs so it should be interesting? I know with my 19's it really up to the source material, some music sounds much better with the 19's and some sounds much better with the G's... should be fun!!!
